Recently, Courtney Z Photography based out of Portland, OR invited us to take part in an ongoing collaborative blog project called 10 on 10. The idea is that on the 10th of each month we will post 10 photos of our own lives that we have taken on one day the month before. We will also link to other photographers from around the country who will also be posting 10 photos from their life. This collection of photographers is fantastic, and we are really excited to be invited to a be a part of this group.
We jumped at the opportunity to participate in the project because we have been wanting to share pieces of our life with past/present/future clients and blog followers. It seems ironic to think that being photographers we have very little photos of ourselves and our own life, but that tends to take a backseat when you have so many great clients to take photos for. Being part of a group like this will give us the motivation we need post about our own life on a regular basis and in turn, we are getting the chance to know an amazing group of photographers.
For our first 10 on 10, we chose a day at Odetah Camping Resort where we recently camped and had our photos taken to celebrate our 5 year anniversary (It’s coming up in October, but we wanted summer photos!). It was our first time camping alone (and while it wasn’t as “primitive” as we thought it would be), it ended up being the perfect spot for a two day getaway. We learned a lot on this trip about over-planning, not planning, learning to live in the moment, and making the most with what we have. It’s funny, but we’re starting to realize from our travels that all we “really” need can fit in a small SUV and this trip was a wonderful reminder of enjoying the simple things in life. (Oh, and a big wake up call we need to smile for photos more! ha!).
