June is here and I think we’re approaching a full year of 10-on-10’s. It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since we first started this collaborative project with these amazingly talented photographers. Funny enough, we started our first 10-on-10 with a camping post & one year later, we find ourselves in the same place: camping.
We recently bought a 1977 camper which we plan to take on a 6 month road trip this coming October. It finally came home with us this past April and literally sat in our driveway for the next month as we headed back into wedding season. Looking at the calendar we realized there wouldn’t be too many more chances to take her on a test run, so we last minute booked a nearby site at Evangola State Park and thankfully our friends Shawn & Keri were able to come out and support us on our first night camping in our camper. If you’re looking for a mini getaway close to Buffalo, NY, Evangola State Park is a perfect one. The sites are clean, (and private this time of year: June). The water is so peaceful and the camp sites are dog friendly which made Finnegan and Fiona very happy to hear.
The “simple” things we’re learning about camping with a 23 foot, old camper, currently seem so intimating to us (backing out, leveling, hooking up, driving on the highway, filling gasoline, etc), but with a few more mini camping trips this summer, we hope to be fully ready to set out for our road trip the second weekend in October. We have our first few weddings booked for the first leg of the trip and we’re still booking intimate weddings & story telling portraits along the way. We’ll be posting updates on instagram with #theshawsontheroad & also you can check out our travel schedule to see updated cities of where we are headed.
We’ve also recently we’ve been in talks with the creator of 10-on-10 (Courtney Z), and we’re so excited for some of the new collaborative projects that will be coming to light through this creative bunch of people.
