Did you know you can have your wedding on a camp ground? Meagan and Jay were planning on having a backyard wedding but when the realized the work that went into renting tents, bathrooms, etc, they opted to start looking for alternative locations that had the same feel of a backyard wedding. They came across Camp 7 Hills in Holland, NY and it was a perfect fit for them and their intimate wedding.
For most of the summer, Camp 7 Hills operates as a Girl Scouts Camp, but it wraps up in early August and is available for intimate events afterward. Meagan & Jay decided to have everything on site from getting ready to ceremony to reception. They finished up with some great lawn games for weddings: KUBB, Cornhole, Bocce Ball, & Kan Jam. More and More, we’ve having couples choosing to do things out of the ordinary at their wedding.
Meagan & Jay’s wedding served as a reminder to us that we don’t need to do things the way everyone else does them just because. Meagan and Jay knew what was important to them and they did things their way, not compromising any bit of their wedding for preconceived notions of what SHOULD be. Want to get ready in the same bunk? Do it! Don’t want a bridal party? Don’t have one! Want to see each other before your ceremony because it makes things a little less jittery? Have a first look and see each other before! Don’t want to cut into a cake? Order yourselves some Paula’s Donuts and bite into them when no one’s looking. Make your own rules.
We also recently photographed Meagan and Jay’s engagement session and you can see that here.
