We absolutely LOVE photographing weddings and elopements in the Adirondacks and are so excited to have found another wonderful venue to share with our clients looking for a scenic space that also encompasses the comfort of having a standing venue to get ready in and lodging for you and your guests to stay. Let us introduce you to The Bark Eater Inn, our new favorite intimate wedding venue in the Adirondack Mountains. It is located in the small town of Keene, New York, (near Lake Placid).
What makes The Bark Eater Inn one of our favorite intimate wedding venues to get married at or to elope in the Adirondacks? To start, the lovely hosts of the property, Meghan Kirkpatrick and Tyler Nichols, are just incredible to work with. They have worked with the owners to undertake extensive renovations over the last 6 years and have truly created a comfortable and welcoming charm to the venue. Secondly, you can stay, get ready, get married, take photos and celebrate your marriage all on site of The Bark Eater Inn! This makes it the perfect location for a simple and smaller wedding not looking to move around too much on your wedding day.

More perks of staying at The Bark Eater Inn are their authentic farm to table breakfasts, which include homemade ingredients. There are 200 acres of land and 3.5 miles of trails through forest and flowering meadows that are the guests’ private playground. And, the hosts are meticulous with detail and cleanliness. In addition to weddings we also host retreats and other private groups. Our intention is to reconnect folks with nature, themselves and each other. From Meghan herself, “Our greatest hope is that when folks stay here with us they have memorable experiences that inspire and rejuvenate their spirits.”
Intimate Wedding in the Adirondack Mountains
Kayla and Bill made use of the beautiful location and stayed all on-site for their wedding day. Kayla got ready with her mom by her side, in a guest room at The Bark Eater Inn. She chose a simple and modern wedding gown from Alex Veil Bridal. She chose the Teona gown, which had a flow crepe chiffon skirt, and was completely handmade.
Before the ceremony, the two did a first look, and read each other’s personal letters to one another. We love when couples choose to read letters to each other beforehand since they are often nervous during the ceremony! This takes the pressure off of the couples from making a speech during the ceremony while allowing them to have a quiet moment together.
The team at Little Farmhouse Flowers made sure that the flowers not only reflected the couple but went with the outdoor ceremony and reception. They focus on building beautiful and natural floral designs. Many of the flowers are grown on their own farm! And they make sure all of the flowers used are locally grown throughout New York and New England. They ensure that each wedding and event’s designs are made with sustainably grown flowers, something we admire very much. They also specialize in uncommon and heirloom flowers, so each wedding is completely unique and one of a kind.

Their ceremony took place on the grounds of The Bark Eater Inn, with the Adirondacks in the background. They had a simple ceremony arch, with their wedding colors of burgundy and cream. The flowers tied into Kayla’s bouquet, which was filled with burgundy and cream wildflowers, with a blue ribbon. Bonus tip, Meghan Kirkpatrick, one of the hosts of the venue, is also able to marry couples! Kayla and Bill took full advantage of having her wed them!
Lastly, it goes without saying that getting married with the Adirondack Mountains behind you is such a treat! The mountains and hiking are where Kayla and Bill spend a lot of their free time. They wanted their wedding day to encompass the nature they appreciate so much. After they got married, they held their cocktail hour in the gardens on the property. The dinner was held in the backyard, overlooking sunset. They chose a single farm table, so everyone could sit together, and share memories.
