Engagement Session, Portland, ME
Oh Portland, We now have 2 more reasons to love you so.
We ended Divya & Aaron’s wedding with the wedding ceremony at the Avanti Mansion in Hamburg, NY.
To see the full wedding from beginning to end start here:
Day One : Mehndi
Day Two, Part One : Choora & Kalira
Day Two, Part Two : Baratt
Here are a few of our favorites from day three: Venue: Avanti Mansion.
This was an incredible experience for us and at the end of it, we felt withdrawl from the clients who now felt like family. After spending the last 60 hours breathing, sleeping and dreaming Divya & Aaron’s wedding, we were sad for it to come to an end.
We are so so so so so so excited for this wedding next year! Beth & Jim are getting married on a farm out in Cuba, NY. We have a fighting love of both URBAN Buffalo & the farm life. Sometimes it’s hard for us to choose what we love more, so what’s better than incorporating both into your wedding? An urban engagement session in Buffalo & a farm wedding in Cuba, NY. We’re sold! To top it off, Beth & Jim have this contagious love and energy. Photographing them is like being on a new adventure were you’re seeing places and things you’ve never seen before (even though you’ve walked by them a million times). We can’t wait to photograph this wedding in June… #SomeDayOnaMountain
Nick & Nadia are some of the sweetest of the sweetest. They held their ceremony & reception at the same location, (Marquis Ballroom in the Lafayette Hotel), and got ready in the suites on site as well. They opted for a first look which we set up on the balcony and then we headed out to Gallagher Pier and the city streets for some portraits. (There was a big parade finishing up the same time we were trying to photograph portraits, so we quickly changed location plans & Nadia & Nick got a lot of unexpected congratulations as we photographed).
We’re starting to come to the close of our wedding season with 6 weddings left to shoot (31 behind us!?) It’s been a crazy wonderful busy season, but we are so grateful for every single one of our amazing client’s who trusted us with our sometimes crazy ideas. Nadia & Nick were no exception and took all of our suggestions as gold and trusted us with alternative locations when we couldn’t pass through the parade. As we’ve approached the end of our 4th wedding season, we’ve come to understand the importance of having client’s trusting us, especially when plans need to change last minute because of something unexpected. For this reason, we don’t take shot lists, (except family formal requests), we don’t accept pinterest boards, and we guide our clients through picking the locations for your portraits, (and even when we have that all settled, we leave LOTS of room for flexibility). We truly believe the day needs to unfold organically and be YOUR day because you never know when a big parade is going to stop you in your tracks from getting to where you need to go. Most likely, the alternative place you end up is where you’re supposed to be anyway.
We have decided to add Photographing a Wedding in Portland, ME to our “Shaw Photography Bucket List.” This is our second time visiting Portland, ME and even though it rained 66% of the time we were there, we loved it even more than the first time. There is something so alluring about it. Maybe it’s the walkability. or the sunrise. or the coast. or the portland headlight. or the friends we got to catch up with along the way. or the oh so delicious food. or the beer. Whatever it is, we want more! So if you, or anyone you know, is getting married in Portland, ME, you know where to find us. Read below to find our recommendations from our last two visits.
The joy of being based in Buffalo Wedding Photographers! We get to see this city in a new and exciting light every weekend! Melissa & Dan recently moved back to Buffalo from San Diego, CA. When we met with them to go over their final timeline it was obvious their admiration for their hometown of Buffalo and that they wanted to incorporate their passion and love of Buffalo within their wedding day . Melissa’s dress had modifications by Made by Anatomy in Buffalo. The girls got ready at the Mansion on Delaware. The guys got ready at their home that they recently bought in the Elmwood Village. Their ceremony was held at St. Louis Church (which is over a 180 years old!!). Their bridal party portraits were taken around Buffalo: Virginia Pl. & Colonial Circle. And their reception was held at the Mansion on Delaware, a historic boutique hotel located in what feels like the middle of Buffalo. We loved sharing in their passion for Buffalo as we documented their day and we felt like we were on our own personal tour. We can’t express enough how much fun we had working with Melissa & Dan. Though we only met them a few weeks before their wedding, it was like reconnecting with old friends.
We previewed when Melissa’s dad saw her for the first time here:
And we can’t thank these vendors enough. They did an incredible job with all of the bridesmaids.
