Casual Family Photos in Naples, Florida
The Barton family was visiting family in Naples, Florida from Pittsburgh. While in town they wanted to document them as a family at a nearby beach. Lucky for them, Mrs. Barton’s parents lived in a condo association that was across the street from Moorings Beach, a private beach in Naples, which was the perfect location for their family photo session.
The photo session took place in November of 2020, just before Thanksgiving. The Barton’s were more than happy to escape the chilly Pittsburgh weather. On the day of their photo session, the Florida weather did not disappoint. It was near perfect with temperatures in the 70’s.
We started the session about 90 minutes before sunset. Usually, this is the best time to take photos, but when we first started the session, it was a bit too sunny to head to the beach right away. Taking photos in direct sunlight can be harsh and not very flattering. Although film is known for how well it handles sunlight, sometimes, too much direct sun can be more than film to handle.
I could tell everyone was eager to get to the beach, but I suggested taking a few photos at the condo first. That way, the sun would be a little less harsh when we made our way to the beach. This actually worked out for the best! We ended up taking pictures at the grandparent’s condo pool area. This also gave the grandparents a chance to jump in a few of the photos as well. The grandparents were more than happy to be a part of the photoshoot, and now they’ll have documentation of their family’s visit.
Once we got to the beach, we were thrilled. There weren’t a lot of people around, so we had plenty of space to spread out and capture some authentic family moments. The family was super easy going, and they were more than happy to follow my suggestions in order to get the best results.
