Extended family portraits are easily becoming some of my favorite types of family sessions to photograph on film. I never underestimate how important these sessions are as it’s often hard to get everyone from one family in the same place at the same time. When it is possible, it really is something extraordinary to be able to capture the essence of these relationships all together.
Around the winter holidays, I often receive a lot of emails for extended family photos and I was so excited that the weather was nice enough to photograph a handful of them this year. For the Marlinski extended family portrait we met up to photograph at Hoyt Lake in Buffalo, NY. Hoyt Lake is one of my favorite places in Buffalo to photograph because of the variety in scenery all within a short distance. It was absolutely cold at this session, but the family was all up for the challenge of keeping each other moving, laughing, and warm!
If you have your family coming in from out of town and want to learn more about booking an extended portrait with me, contact me here and we can discuss dates and details! And if your family all lives here, but you’re looking for a good excuse to gather (now that we can soon gather in groups of 10 or more!), booking a professional photographer for a gift is a great reason to celebrate this life together!
