Cape Coral Extended Family Photo Session | Cape Coral, Florida
The Jayakumar family photo session took place in Cape Coral, FL, which is about an hour from Naples. It was a different location than our typical spots, but I’m always more than happy to travel for family photo sessions. The family is originally from Buffalo and New York City, NY, but they planned to meet for a family vacation in Cape Coral. They knew that we spent time in Southwest Florida, especially during the cold winter months, so they reached out to see if we’d be there at the same time, and it worked out perfectly!
When they first reached out to me, the Jayakumars were hoping to do a beach family photo session, but they ended up opting for a relaxed session at the home they rented together in Cape Coral. I love a good Florida beach session, but sometimes comfort and ease outweigh a desired location. With a two-month-old and a three-year-old, they decided taking photos at the house would be much easier. Plus, the nearest beach would have been about a 30-minute drive, and getting the entire family there would have been a hassle.
The family wanted to keep things simple and take some relaxed, candid images at the home they rented. We started the session about 90 minutes before sunset, and the Florida weather did not disappoint. Overall, the photo session was extremely laid-back. Every family member was super easygoing, even the little ones! The grandparents were able to get a few photos with just the grandkids, and the rest of the family was very flexible during the entire session. We even stopped to chat between photos, which made it feel more like a friendly gathering than a photo shoot. And no one was in a hurry, which allowed me to capture those in-between candid moments rather than posed photos.
I love when I get the opportunity to be more of a “fly on the wall” and capture the family exactly as they are. The photos from these carefree, laid-back family sessions are always the most authentic. I would love to work with the Jayakumars again as their family grows, and I couldn’t be happier with how their photos turned out.
