Naples, Florida, is a photographer’s dream. From the sun-kissed beaches to the vibrant energy of downtown, there’s always a picturesque scene waiting to be captured. But for family sessions, there’s one location that holds a special place in my heart: Old Naples.

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful family who were as enthusiastic as I am about exploring this charming area. Their vision was simple: capture the essence of their family and end with a stunning sunset on the beach. Perfect! We decided to start a few blocks from the shoreline in the heart of Old Naples, a decision that proved to be pure magic.

Why Old Naples is My Go-To for Family Sessions

You might think any beach in Naples would be ideal for a sunset family session. And while our beaches are undeniably beautiful, timing is everything. The golden hour, that magical 20-minute window just before sunset, is when the light is at its absolute best. Any earlier, and the sun can be harsh and unforgiving, creating unflattering shadows.

This is where Old Naples truly shines. By starting our session a few blocks from the beach, we had the opportunity to explore the enchanting side streets. These hidden gems are meticulously landscaped, boasting lush, vibrant foliage and ample shade. This allows us to capture stunning portraits in beautifully soft, diffused light while we patiently await the perfect sunset.

A Stroll Through Paradise

Our walk to the beach was a delightful adventure. We wandered down quiet, tree-lined streets, stopping to capture candid moments and posed portraits against the backdrop of charming homes and verdant gardens. The kids explored, the parents laughed, and I clicked away, capturing the genuine joy and connection between them.

As the sun began its descent, we made our way to the beach. The light was breathtaking, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and gold. The family played in the sand, splashed in the gentle waves, and simply enjoyed each other’s company as I captured the magic of their sunset session.
