We love traveling for weddings and especially traveling back to New York City for weddings. Natalie & Dan got married at The Green Building in Brooklyn on a beautiful Thursday evening, (Yes! You can get married on a Thursday in New York!). Brian photographed their wedding including their first look, intimate tea ceremony, marriage ceremony and reception all at the Green Building. We love wedding venues that allow all events to happen on site, including getting ready. In between events, the bride & groom were able to sneak away for portraits along the Gowanus Canal which is a short walk away from the Green Building and perfect for wedding day pictures without having to travel too far from the venu.
Natalie & Dan opted for a simple & small celebration of about 85 guests and a bridal party that consisted of their dearest friends. Natalie designed and hand-made her wedding dress which takes Do it Yourself to a whole new level. This girl is beyond talented and we were in awe of the intricate detail she sewed in. At the reception, Natalie and Dan brought in their personality to the wedding including some of their local favorites: Hometown Bar B Que for Food & Ample Hills Creamery for dessert.
It goes without saying that every time we return to NYC we get the overwhelming feeling of returning home. Brian & I met, (and first started dating), while living in Greenpoint over 10 years ago. Since then, we got engaged, moved back to Buffalo, got married, got jobs, bought a house, quit jobs, started a wedding photography business, sold a house, went on a road trip across the US and had a baby. A lot has changed but, one constant is our attempt to visit Brooklyn, our home before home, whenever possible. This year it was Natalie & Dan’s wedding that brought us back. (We’ll be making another trip in early 2018 for engagement & family sessions so we’ll update our travel schedule & announce it as soon as we decide on our dates).
If you’re interested in having us travel to your wedding in New York City, we’d love to come celebrate with you. And if you live in New York City but you’re looking to have a destination wedding elsewhere, consider the Adirondacks or The Catskill Mountains. We travel to both locations for weddings and they are both the perfect getaway from the city. Connect with us here to learn more about us traveling to your wedding.
