Winkler Family Photo Session | West Falls, New York
When it comes to family photo sessions, the Winklers are seasoned professionals. I’ve photographed this family more times than I can count, and every time it’s such a pleasure. Our first photo session was back in 2018 when they first moved to Buffalo from Chicago. Since then, Maura’s midwifery business, Fika Midwifery, and their family have grown beautifully. And documenting every stage and season of life has always been a top priority for the Winklers.
This time, our photo session took place at their brand-new home in rural West Falls, NY, which is about a half hour from downtown Buffalo. We started the session about 90 minutes before sunset, and it was a perfect fall evening in Western New York. Since a lot of our shoot took place outside on their gorgeous new property, we couldn’t have asked for better weather.
In the beginning, I photographed the kids exploring the property naturally as they played. They rode their bikes, wandered around the property, and even interacted with their new chickens! The newest members of the Winkler family are 15 chickens and a rooster (they’re still working on names for all of them). They even had a splashy new chicken coop to house the new feathered family members.
I love being able to photograph kids being kids. Having an activity planned, or just letting your kids play as they normally would while a photographer is present is a great way to get stunning candid photos.
I’ve worked with this family so many times that it was an extremely easygoing photo session. Part of the reason I love photographing the same families over time is that the kids get comfortable with me being there, and the family is familiar with my style and direction during a shoot.
This Winkler family photo session was a joy to photograph as usual and I’m grateful for the opportunity to document their growth along the way!
